The secondo provides a gentle accompaniment to a gorgeous melody found in the primo, played both as a single line and, later, doubled at the octave. Pedaling is notated for either performer, although the highly regarded arrangers commonly advocate for pedaling executed by the primo performer. With careful attention to melodic shaping, this duet would be a lovely addition to any program, especially one featuring international folk songs.
